Sandvik Mining has embarked on significant transformation initiatives across its global mining operations. To support these efforts, Mining IT is adopting new agile delivery practices and strengthening its program execution capabilities. As part of this evolution, we are introducing a dedicated Cutover Manager role to enhance the successful delivery of these major transformation initiatives.

We are looking for exceptional people to join our multi-cultural team located in Dublin, Sweden and Finland. This is a fantastic opportunity to actively participate in the digital transformation supporting the Divisions in Sandvik Mining to execute their strategies through the use of the very latest technologies.

We are now recruiting for a Cutover Manager (Hybrid) - for a permanent role. Please see list of available locations detailed below.

JOB PURPOSE

The Cutover Manager will lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of a new Cutover Management Function within Mining IT, ensuring seamless transitions to new systems and technologies for Major project implementations. . This role will establish best practices, governance, and cross-functional coordination to deliver cutovers that are efficient, low-risk, and business-aligned.

The Cutover Manager has overall responsibility for defining the cutover strategy and leading the planning and management of all business and technical activities related cutover to new solutions with particular focus on projects with a cutover from multiple ERP application(s) to SAP solutions. The role is critical in ensuring a smooth transition from current operations and solutions to the new solutions, minimizing disruption and ensuring readiness across all impacted areas.

The role requires someone who has previous experience managing large scale cut-over events on ERP related projects, preferably SAP.

The role requires exceptional attention to detail and an ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders including IT and Business areas at senior level.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and build the Cutover Function from the ground up, including frameworks, tools and governance.
  • Develop a scalable cutover methodology that supports various projects (e.g. ERP, cloud migration, digital transformation, maintenance upgrades)
  • Align cutover strategy with wider Program plans and strategies.
  • Collaborate across multiple programs, PMO and technical leads to embed cutover planning into project lifecycles.
  • Ensure cutover activities are integrated with testing, deployment, data migration and project phases
  • Provide leadership and expertise in the creation of a suitable Cutover Strategy that meets the business and technical needs of programs.
  • Develop and maintain cutover documentation, schedule/approach, project plan and detailed cutover checklists.
  • Plan and manage the cutover and conversion deliverables to the new system, including the facilitation of rehearsals, dry runs and readiness assessments.
  • Plan the physical and people resources required for cutover activities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with cutover, aligning with Business Cutover managers. Ensure that cutover risk mitigation measures are identified and implemented in advance of a go-live event
  • Establish governance processes for approvals, escalations and compliance.
  • Engage with key stakeholders (business, IT leadership, vendors and external parties) acting as a central point of contact and co-ordination for cutover-related activities and communications.
  • Collaborate effectively with project and business stakeholders to ensure that all cutover activities are identified, documented and appropriately sequenced
  • Manage/coordinate the cutover activities and post-cutover Hypercare period, and act as the first point of escalation for managing all issues that arise
  • Monitor progress during cutover and Hypercare period and communicate to leadership team, including status, progress, issues, etc.
  • Other ad hoc duties as requested by management.

Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of Project Management experience
  • Minimum of 3 previous cutover projects successfully completed preferably in ERP cutover
  • Proven ability to collaborate with business and technical stakeholders
  • Experience in Risk Management and Governance
  • Experience in setting up new Cutover function in an organisation is desirable.

Education, Licenses & Certificates

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or other relevant discipline
  • Preferably Project Management qualification, e.g. Prince 2, PMI.
